Northern tied the school record (set in 2006) for wins, climbing to 15-5-0 and travels to Nebraska for a second-round tournament game Sunday at 1 p.m. against No. 2 seed Creighton (18-2).
NIU got its second goal in the 43rd minute from freshman Isaac Kannah and junior Mike Mascitti added a second-half score.
