Nathan Jesko has continued giving Geneva a presence at the IHSA Boys Swimming & Diving State Championships thanks to his third-place finish in Saturday’s St. Charles East Sectional meet.
The sophomore, who follows in the wake of Joe Hollman, recorded a 53.92 in the 100-yard backstroke to meet the state-qualifying standard of :54.18.
“I always looked up to Joe and it feels good to know I’m able to follow the standard he set,” Jesko said. “Coming in I knew I had the ability and the start felt real good, and then the race was nice and smooth from there.”
“Nathan’s a very humble guy, but he knows how to get the job done,” Geneva coach Mary Kaiser. “He was very close last year, so we knew this year could be his turn.”
