Kevin Schnable’s fellow coaches apparently agreed.

“I feel like we have a strong case for the top spot (in the Bolingbrook Class 4A Sectional). We’ll let the coaches decide,” the Oswego coach said Tuesday after his team clinched a share of the Southwest Prairie Conference title with a win at Plainfield Central.

The 23-2 Panthers got the nod for the top seed in the 23-team field when the postseason seeds were posted Thursday afternoon on the IHSA website.

Oswego is followed by No. 2 Benet Academy, No. 3 Neuqua Valley and No. 4 West Aurora.

The Redwings host one of four regionals and will be the top seed there. Oswego will likely get slotted at the Oswego East Regional. The top seeds at the others two sites could be Neuqua Valley at Wheaton Warrenville South and West Aurora at Batavia.

Hinsdale Central, Waubonsie Valley, Naperville Central and Bolingbrook are seeded Nos. 5 through 8 with Lemont ninth and Naperville North 10th. Other area teams are Metea Valley (11), Geneva (12), Oswego East (14), Batavia (17), Yorkville (20) and East Aurora (22).

The five-team IMSA Class 3A Regional had no surprises, topped by No. 1 Wheaton Academy with St. Francis second followed by Kaneland, Aurora Central, Marmion Academy and the hosts.

At Lincoln-Way West 3A Regional, Plano made the move up from 2A and claimed the top seed, followed by Providence Catholic, Joliet Catholic Academy, Sandwich and the hosts.
