BOYS BASKETBALL
Hinckley-Big Rock 44, Morris 41 — In a Plano consolation bracket game, Jared Madden and Bernie Conley scored 10 points each to lead the Royals, who limited the Redskins to 29 percent shooting from the floor.
Seneca 37, Newark 36 — Junior guard Conlan Callahan sank one of two free throws with 1.5 seconds left to lift the Irish to the victory in a consolation game at the Plano tournament. Newark led 36-29 on a pair of Jack Clausel free throws, but then went the final 7:08 without scoring a point.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Aurora Christian 49, Dixon 38 — Alyssa Andersen led the Eagles (9-6) to victory at the Dixon Christmas Tournament with 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals.
Aurora Central Catholic 39, Lemont 33 — Lisa Rodriguez and Alex DeCraene led the Chargers (7-6) with 9 and 8 points respectively. The Chargers play Saturday in the fifth-place game at the Oswego East tournament against the winner of Joliet Central and East Aurora.
Hinckley-Big Rock 38, Hiawatha 21 — At the Prophetstown Tournament on Friday, the Royals (8-7) were led by Lauren Paver with nine points. H-BR will play at 6 p.m. Saturday for third place.
Marquette Academy 56, Somonauk 36 — Allison Humes led Somonauk (7-9) with 14 points, seven rebounds and six blocks.
WRESTLING
Palatine tournament — Oswego’s Max Larsen took first at 160 pounds as the Panthers finished ninth. Other Oswego wrestlers who performed well were Andrew McFall (third at 106 pounds), Nick Schultz (fourth at 126) and Max Hively (fifth at 195).
GIRLS GYMNASTICS
Oswego Invitational — Glenbard West (141.650 total) edged out Geneva (141.225) for the team title, while Oswego (135.400) finished fourth. Geneva’s Ashley Puff finished fourth in the all-around and third in the vault. The Vikings’ Dominique Brognia and Puff finished one-two in the floor exercise.
