GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Geneva wins regional — The Vikings downed rival Batavia 25-22, 21-25, 25-19 Thursday to win the Class 4A Batavia Regional. Geneva advances to Tuesday’s Larkin Sectional and will face St. Charles East.

Batavia (20-17) was led by Kristen Koncelik (10 kills), Shea Thayer (six block kills), Briahna Havis (13 digs) and Anysa Ocon (five kills and four block kills).

Kaneland wins regional — The Knights defeated Sycamore 25-19, 25-23 to claim the championship of the Class 3A Hampshire Regional. Lyndi Scholl (seven kills, six digs), Jenny Lubic (11 assists, three aces) and Ashley Prost (three kills, nine assists, 10 digs) led the Knights (23-12). Kaneland advances to Tuesday’s Marian Central Sectional and will face powerful Richmond-Burton at 6 p.m.

Newark wins regional — Abby Akre had 10 kills and nine digs and Lauren Tollefson added 15 assists and eight digs to lead Newark (29-4-1) to a 25-10, 25-10 win over LaMoille at the Class 1A Earlville Regional.

West Aurora Hall of Fame nominations — West Aurora High School is accepting nominations for the West Aurora Sports Hall of Fame now through Nov. 9.

Nominations can be sent via email to the West Aurora Athletic Director Jason Buckley at jbuckley@sd129.org.

Include name and phone number of the nominator and the nominee’s name, year of graduation and field of distinction. Indicate whether the nominee was a coach or athlete and provide reasons for the nomination. The new members will be inducted on Feb. 8.
