GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Metea Valley def. East Aurora 25-3, 25-12 — The Mustangs (18-12) were led by Kaylyn Torain and Lexie Lodbell with 5 kills apiece at the Class 4A Waubonsie Valley Regional. They advance to play top-seeded West Aurora in the regional semifinal on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Mendota def. Plano 22-25, 25-9, 25-17 — Plano’s season ended Monday night at the Class 3A Sterling Regional. Clarisa Martinez had six kills and three blocks for Plano. Mendota moves on to face Sterling at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Princeton def. Sandwich 25-4, 25-9 — Leaders for Sandwich in the defeat at the Class 3A Sterling Regional were Melissa Tassone with nine digs and Kylie Knur with six blocks. Princeton advances to face Rock Falls Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Hinckley-Big Rock def. Paw Paw 25-20, 16-25, 25-19 — The Royals were led by Beth Klein with six kills and nine blocks and Caitlyn Flanigan with 15 digs. H-BR faces top-seeded Newark Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Class 1A Earlville Regional.

Somonauk def. Serena 25-21, 25-18 — Allison Humes led Somonauk (20-13) with nine kills, 11 digs and two aces at the Class 2A Amboy Regional. Somonauk will play top-seeded Seneca Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the regional semifinal.

Mooseheart def. Islamic Foundation 25-8, 25-6 — Mooseheart moves on to play Providence St. Mel at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Class 1A Luther North Regional.

GOLF

Hole-in-one at Hughes Creek — Pat Sherry of St. Charles shot a hole-in-one at Hughes Creek Golf Course in Elburn on Wednesday. The ace was recorded on the 105-yard hole No. 3 using a Cleveland 7-iron. The hole-in-one was witnessed by her husband Bob Sherry.
