Boys Soccer
Kaneland advances — Anthony Parillo scored two first-half goals and Tyler Siebert, Sam Rymarz, and Kushstrom Ismailli each scored once in the first half to give top-seeded Kaneland a 5-0 halftime lead en route to a 5-1 win over Illinois Math and Science Academy Wednesday in the semifinals of the Burlington Sectional Class 2A Regional.
Kazami Brockman scored in the second half for IMSA (6-14-1).
Kaneland (14-3-2) advances to play Burlington Central in the finals at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Wednesday’s Class 3A regional matchup between East Aurora and Plainfield Central at Neuqua Valley was postponed by rain and will be played Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
Yorkville’s season ended Wednesday with a 4-3 defeat to Dixon in the Rochelle Class 2A Regional.
Girls Volleyball
Metea Valley def. Oswego East 25-17, 25-16 — Lexie Lobdell had three aces and seven kills and Ellie Petersen had 18 assists for the Mustangs. Oswego East was led by Kelly Bertrand with three kills and Yari Martinez with eight digs.
