Body of Bensenville man found near creek in Elmhurst

The body of a Bensenville man was found Monday afternoon along a creek in west suburban Elmhurst.
Russell Winkler, 45, had been dead for more than a day when he was found about 1:20 p.m. Monday along the banks of Salt Creek behind the Diplomat West Banquet Hall at 681 W. North Ave., according to a release from Elmhurst Police.
Elmhurst Police and the DuPage County Sheriff’s office were investigating, but on Monday evening officials had no word on the cause and manner of his death.
