Teens from boxing clubs around Illinois and neighboring states fought for a good cause at the Aurora’s first “Tuition Knock Out” on Sunday afternoon.
The event, sanctioned by the Jesse “The Law” Torres Boxing Club in partnership with the Aurora Police Department’s National Latino Peace Officers Association, raised more than $5,000, according to Aurora Police Sgt. Alfredo Dean. The organization will award scholarship funds at a banquet this winter.
More than 500 people attended the event, he said.
“There was huge support. We had command staff and other officers from surrounding law enforcement offices in attendance,” Dean said.
