Non-union workers: The thirteen million dollar addition that Valley West Community Hospital is doing, I’d like to know if they’re using any union people. My guess is that they are not, because I have called a couple of times and all I get is the runaround. I would imagine that most of their (medical) bills are being paid through union health benefits. So, why not return the favor Valley West?
Unlicensed drivers: It is disgusting, year after year, reading in the Beacon, arrests of uninsured, unlicensed drivers. When the courts collect fines from uninsured drivers, what good does that do the law-abiding driver whom suffers losses and costs? Restrictive penalties won’t stop these people from driving. The answer is to in pound vehicles indefinitely and do not be soft for hardship stories. They have no concern for their traffic victims.
No accounting: Regarding the Sunday article, “No Acccounting for East Aurora’s Credit Card.” I know, where I work, we have to have a receipt and explanation for everything we do and if it’s not accepted, we pay for it. If we don’t have receipts, we can’t claim it, we have to pay for it. I believe that each and every person who abused that credit card, does not have his receipt, cannot account for it, should be required to pay back East Aurora School District for every penny that they spent unnecessarily. And so those items that didn’t get returned to Home Depot, they need to gather them all up, take them back to Home Depot and Home Depot will give them their credit voucher to use at the store for future purchases. So return all those items back to Home Depot or Menard’s for those things. Quit wasting taxpayer money.
Check voting card: Regarding the new voter registration cards that just went out and the mistakes that were made. I am very discouraged by the Aurora Election Commission’s “ ‘Oh well, I’m not perfect’ attitude.” Several of us in our neighborhood in the 4th ward also received new cards. Now I’m going to have to go look at my card and make sure because we have been switched so much, who knows where we’re going to wind up. We’ve gone from West High to Aurora University and now a church on Galena Road. So now I’m going to go check my voters card, and I suggest everyone do the same.
What goes around: Regarding the Aurora library workers picket on Sunday. I’m puzzled here. After the library director, Eva Luckenbill put the mayor to task regarding being so financially lucrative that they could purchase land, etc., etc., yet she has an issue with resolving a contract with her union people. It’s unbelievable how it comes back, what goes around comes around.
They don’t work: You wonder why there is illegal immigration. Here is one answer. In last Friday’s Beacon, there are pictured eleven out of nineteen men, most in their mid twenties and thirties, all facing drug and illegal gun possession charges. All big, strong looking men who do not want to work for a living. And we all know, discrimination has nothing to do with it. Aren’t all illegals employed?
Pass an ordinance: I don’t understand why people go ahead and buy or get free dogs and don’t take care of them properly. They leave them outside with no shelter, no proper food and water, they don’t give a darn, they won’t let them in the house. You know what? Then don’t get the dog, don’t get the cat, don’t get nothing. And people want to have chickens in their yard? Okay, can’t we pass an ordinance?
Money disappearing: A word of caution to Aurorans. I have reason to suspect my checking account is being pilfered by a bank employee. I have brought this to the attention of my bank. Money seems to have been going out faster than I write checks.
No street sweepers: Perfect timing, the vehicle window breakers and the falling leaves. Our streets are curbside parking clear. And where are the street sweepers on Aurora’s near east side?
