Kaneland parents can pay lunch fee online

Updated: January 29, 2012 8:12AM

Parents in the Kaneland School District can check their child’s school cafeteria lunch balance online, but there is no link through the new payment center that will guarantee he or she will select an apple over a cookie.

The Kaneland School District has activated a new Web Store to give parents a convenient and secured way to make credit card payments for a student’s lunch account and school-related fees.

The district has contracted with RevTrak, a national credit card payment processor. Parents can add money to a student’s food service account, view account balances and past orders by establishing a new customer account through the district’s website at www.kaneland.org.

The Web Store gives parents a way to pay for registration, athletic and activity fees, as well as pay for multiple students or multiple items through a “shopping cart” page and print out a receipt.

Although the payment system makes it easier for parents and avoids having to send checks, the Web Store does not give parents a way to check what types of food purchases their child is making in the school cafeteria.

Scheduling parent/teacher conferences at Kaneland Harter Middle School was also made easier this year. The school’s Parent Teacher Organization funded a system called “PTC Wizard” where parents could schedule conferences online through the middle school’s website.
