Four current Kane County Board members, a former state senator and a well-known Aurora businessman will be part of Chris Lauzen’s campaign team in his run for Kane County Board chairman.
Lauzen, a Republican state senator from Aurora, announced this week that Kane board members Jim Mitchell of North Aurora, Barb Wojnicki of St. Charles, T.R. Smith of Maple Park and Drew Frasz of Elburn will serve as four of his six regional chairmen. Also assisting Lauzen’s campaign will be former Elgin state Sen. Steve Rauschenberger as the northern campaign chairman and Aurora businessman Dick Hawks as the southern campaign chairman.
“I believe that the power to do good on the Kane County Board rests not in any one person or several leaders, but rather in the process of gathering the skills of ... 24 board members, highlighting their collective strengths and focusing our energy,” Lauzen said.
In August, Lauzen announced that after 20 years representing Aurora in the Illinois Senate, he was going to run for County Board chairman. Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns also is running in the Republican primary.
Current Kane County Board Chairman Karen McConnaughay recently announced that she will run for the 33rd State Senate District, which includes large parts of northwest Kane County including Huntley, Hampshire, Wayne and St. Charles. No Democrats have announced an interest in running for Kane board chairman so far.
