Four charged with soliciting sex in Aurora

Four men were charged with soliciting sex acts at a motel on Aurora’s northeast side on Saturday, police said.

Harpal Singh, 41, of West Chicago; Mananga D. Mutombo, 24, of Bolingbrook; Pedro A. Navarro, 24, of the 200 block of Union Avenue, Batavia; and Matthew G. Garcia, 22, of Glendale Heights were all charged with solicitation, a misdemeanor, between 1:35 and 5:26 p.m. Saturday at the Motel 6, 2380 N. Farnsworth Ave., police said.


A car and shed were damaged, and a garage was destroyed by a suspected arson at 12:50 p.m. Sunday at the Salvation Army, 550 Redwood Drive. The garage was fully engulfed in flames and the fire was spreading to other properties when police arrived, police said. Total loss is estimated at $18,500, police said.

Arturo G. Galvan, 29, of Aurora or Joliet, was charged with six counts of felony possession of fraudulent ID cards and four counts of felony forgery after a traffic stop in which police found several documents with fake identifications in his possession, police said. Police said they confiscated three fake Illinois drivers licenses, three fake Illinois ID cards, one fake Mexican chauffeur’s license, eight fake permanent resident cards, and $3,397 in cash. Miguel A. Sandoval, 28, of Joliet or Aurora, and Humberto M. Zamuda, 29, of Joliet or Aurora, were both charged with misdemeanor obstruction in the incident, police said. The traffic stop was made at 4:13 p.m. Friday at Root and New York streets, police said.

Urooj Singapuri, 18, of the 2700 block of Flagstone Circle, Naperville, was charged with two counts of drunken driving, improper lane use and failure to yield at 10:15 p.m. Thursday at Highland Avenue and Old Indian Trail Road, police said.

Theran L. Smith, 18, of the 800 block of Foran Lane, Aurora, was charged with felony robbery at 1:20 a.m. Friday in the 2600 block of West Sullivan Road, police said.

Dean E. Britton, 51, of Aurora, was charged with violating sex offender registration, a felony, at 5 p.m. Thursday, in the 300 block of North River Street, police said.

Rudy A. VanEtten, 26, of the 500 block of East Downer Place, Aurora, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing at 5:10 p.m. Friday in the 900 block of Grove Street, police said.

Servando Alvarez, 45, of the 400 block of North Lake Street, Aurora, was charged with felony presenting false identification at 5:36 p.m. Thursday at his home, police said.

Ellectra C. Schwegler, 21, of Plainfield, was charged with two counts of drunken driving, illegally transporting alcohol, driving with an expired drivers license, speeding, and improper lane use at 1:10 a.m. Sunday at New York and Chestnut streets, police said.

Esteban D. Cortes-Vega, 32, of the 700 block of Robert Street, Aurora, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and speeding at 10:35 a.m. Saturday at Randall Road and Illinois Avenue, police said.

Steven A. Ferrell, 42, of the 0-99 block of North Calhoun Street, Aurora, was charged with felony theft at 8:13 a.m. Saturday at North Kendall and East New York Street, police said.

Kelly Bach, 27, of Chicago, was charged with drunken driving, drivers license not on person, two counts of improper lane use, no insurance and expired registration at 3:28 a.m. Sunday at Waterford Drive and Montgomery Road, police said.

Antonio D. Reynolds, 17, of the 2400 block of Sunflower Court, Aurora, was charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance, marijuana possession, disregarding a stop sign, a license plate violation and obstructing a windshield or window Jan. 21 in the 600 block of May Street, police said Monday.

Destiny L. Jones, 18, of the 1200 block of Second Avenue, Aurora, was charged with aggravated battery with discharge of a firearm, a class X felony, and robbery with a firearm, at Jan. 20 at the Aurora Police Department, police said Monday.

Clyde D. Motley, 34, of the 2100 block of Best Place, Aurora, was charged with felony manufacturing or delivering marijuana and marijuana possession Jan. 22 at his home, police said Monday.

A woman reported that her purse and its contents, valued at $1,436, was stolen after she set it down and walked away from it at 4:16 p.m. Sunday at the Macy’s store at Westfield Fox Valley mall in Aurora, police said.

Copper pipe, valued at $1,500, was stolen between Jan. 4 and 24 from a home in the 0-99 block of Jackson Place, police said.

An XBox 360, more than two-dozen gold rings, and several gold bracelets, necklaces and earrings, valued at $12,350, were stolen between 8:20 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday from a home in the 1100 block of Grove Street, police said.

A flat-screen TV and several pieces of gold jewelry, valued at $2,510, were stolen from a home in the 400 block of North Union Street. A rear door was also broken, police said.

An XBox, DVD player and computer, valued at $1,240, were stolen from a home in the 300 block of South Fourth Street, police said.

A water heater and copper piping, valued at $1,100, were stolen between Nov. 27 and Jan. 23 from a home in the 1500 block of Sandy Lane, police said.

A silver 2004 Nissan Armada, valued at $12,000, was stolen between 8 p.m. Thursday and 5 a.m. Friday from the 500 block of Spruce Street, police said.


Kevin Fox, 49, of Leland, was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center after a one-car accident at 8:24 a.m. Friday at Route 34 and Sycamore Road, police said. Fox was being followed by Plano police at the time of the crash and struck a utility pole, Yorkville police said.

Glenn L. Budvitis, of the 0-99 block of Hickory Lane, Sandwich, was charged with failure to yield to an emergency vehicle at 9:15 a.m. Friday at Route 34 and Sycamore Road, after he struck an ambulance with its lights and sirens activated, police said.

Cory M. Wilming, 23, of the 600 block of Main Street, Plano, was charged with drunken driving, improper lane use, failure to reduce speed, no insurance and illegal transportation of alcohol after a single-vehicle crash at 9:05 p.m. Friday at Marketplace Drive near McHugh Road, police said.

Kendall County

Two men remained hospitalized Monday after a single-vehicle rollover crash at 4:30 a.m. Sunday at Rogers Road near Sandy Bluff Road. Christopher E. Fritz, 32, of the 300 block of South Depot Street, Somonauk, and Peter Filipovits, 32, of the 2800 block of Creek Road, Plano, were found by police at Valley West Hospital in Sandwich after the accident, sheriff’s deputies said. Filipovits was airlifted to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford for his injuries. Fritz also was taken to St. Anthony’s, where he was in good condition Monday. Filipovits remained in serious condition. Fritz was charged with drunken driving and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

A girl under the age of 18 was charged with driving without a valid license at 11:34 p.m. Saturday at Douglas Road and Townes Crossing in Oswego Township, deputies said. Three other underage girls, ages 14 to 17 were charged with illegal possession or consumption of alcohol, as was 18-year-old Peter A. Marotta, of the 100 block of Linden Drive, Oswego.
