An Aurora man faces multiple felonies after slashing his 8-month-old daughter and stabbing his girlfriend during a domestic argument, police said Monday.
Nathaniel J. Nared, 26, of the 1000 block of East Benton Street, was charged with aggravated battery to a child, aggravated battery, aggravated domestic battery, and two counts of domestic battery after the altercation at around 1:15 a.m. Sunday.
Aurora police said they responded to a 911 call at Nared’s home that was placed by his 22-year-old girlfriend, who said that Nared had stabbed both her and the infant. The girlfriend is the mother of Nared’s child.
Police said the woman and Nared had been involved in an argument, and Nared grabbed a knife and began swinging it at the woman as she was holding the baby. Nared slashed the child twice in the leg, police said, and the woman was stabbed in her stomach, right shoulder and back.
The wounds to both the mother and child were non-life threatening.
Nared fled the apartment on foot and was taken into custody by police at Galena Boulevard and Smith Street shortly after the incident.
He is being held in the Kane County jail in St. Charles on a $200,000 bail.
