Updated: October 29, 2011 12:43AM

PLAINFIELD — Plainfield Fest kicks off at 4 p.m. Friday and runs through Sunday evening, but downtown road closures will begin earlier and end later to make way for the event.

The fest will feature fun for all ages, including carnival rides, food vendors, miniature train rides and music under the Miller Lite beer tent. Friday night’s entertainment line-up features country rocker Michael Heaton from 6-9 p.m. and Spoken Four from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Saturday’s midway hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Live music starts at 3 p.m. with Jack Pines. The musical lineup also includes 120 West from 5-6 p.m., 40 Miles to Chicago from 6-9 p.m. and Karen Hart Band from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Sunday’s hours are noon to 6 p.m. The entertainment includes Moonlighters from noon to 2 p.m., local band Overman from 2-4 p.m. and the jam/groove Jaw Potato from 4-6 p.m. Also on Sunday, festival patrons can pay $22 to ride the carnival rides all day (excluding inflatables).

Canadian National Railway will bring its Little Obie train to the fest, too.

The scaled-down version of a train will give rides to adults and children from 5-9 p.m. Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, weather permitting.

The train will be on Fox Street. Rides last 10 minutes.

Parking is available at Plainfield High School Central Campus, Plainfield Village Hall and the village-owned riverfront property south of Lockport Street and west of the DuPage River.

Proceeds from the fest will go to developing the riverfront into an entertainment and recreation destination. The fest is presented by Rod Baker Ford in partnership with the Plainfield Riverfront Foundation and MainStreet Plainfield Inc.

Expect delays

Road closures will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday and last until early morning Monday, according to police.

Lockport Street between Route 59 and Fox River Street will be completely closed to all traffic.

Lockport Street between James and Fox River streets will be open to local businesses, residents and handicapped parking.

Des Plaines Street between Ottawa and Oak streets will be closed except for local traffic and handicapped parking. Illinois Street will be completely closed between the library and the alley just south of Lockport Street.

Chicago Street will be closed between Illinois and Fox River streets except for local traffic and handicapped parking.
