Area residents should keep their eyes to the sky this weekend as the Liberty Foundation’s 2011 Salute to Veterans tour arrives at the Aurora Municipal Airport.
Residents will be able to see the “Liberty Belle,” a Boeing B-17, and a rare Curtiss P-40E “Warhawk” fighter aircraft Saturday and Sunday..
The aircraft have been modified to allow the public the unique opportunity of riding in the classic planes. Rides about 20 minutes long are available in the P-40 for $1,150 for non-Liberty Foundation members and $950 for members. B-17 flights are $430 for non-members and $390 for foundation members.
To schedule a flight, call 918-340-0243. Ground tours of both planes are also available. For more information visit www.libertyfoundation.org.
