YORKVILLE — The popular Stonefire Restaurant here is morphing into something new.
The restaurant, which has been closed for several weeks now, recently announced it is becoming the Millhurst Ale House. It was Stonefire for about seven years.
The announcement came on Stonefire’s Facebook page, and also in the form of a banner on the building at Kennedy Road and Route 47 that says, “Coming Soon-Millhurst Ale House.”
While the restaurant is under new ownership, much of the old Stonefire will remain. Workers have been remodeling inside, but mostly in the kitchen. It appears much of the dining room and bar area will stay the same.
Also, the Facebook page says the new restaurant will “still feature the Stonefire staff and most if not all of Stonefire’s menu.” And they will honor Stonefire gift cards.
Still, the Facebook posting says the restaurant will have a new outside beer garden, and will include, as the new name might indicate, more draft beers. The menu also will add pizza.
While the new owners have said much of the staff will stay, there has been a sign outside the restaurant advertising that it is hiring. While there were no restaurant officials inside the restaurant during a check this week, there are applications for new staff inside.
