Kane County 2012 property tax bills will be mailed out on or before May 1, county Treasurer David J. Rickert announced.
The first installment will be due June 3, and the second installment will be due Sept. 3. Property taxes from one year are due the following year in Illinois.
County Clerk Jack Cunningham reported that the 2012 net taxable valuation for Kane County is $12,675,662,085, with a total real estate tax extension of $1,201,694,093.98.
Starting April 25, property owners can visit KaneCountyTreasurer.org to view current tax information and print out duplicate bills. Also available on this website is a list of all unclaimed funds held by the treasurer, according to a press release from Rickert’s office.
Taxpayers can make payment by:
Mailing the payment with coupon to the treasurer’s office, in the envelope provided.
Making the payment with coupon at any one of the designated banks within Kane County.
Making the payment with coupon during business hours in the treasurer’s office (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday except holidays).
Dropping the payment with coupon in the property tax drop box, which is available 24 hours a day. The drop box is located behind Building A at the Government Center along Route 31 in Geneva.
Credit card or E-check over the Internet. There are convenience fees charged for both of those services. Additional information is available on the treasurer’s office website.
Following are some Kane Count tax statistics provided by the treasurer’s office. The first number is the total amount of real estate tax collection, the second is the number of parcels in the county, the third is the average tax bill for that year and the last number is the percentage of increase over the previous year’s average bill.
