Copper pipe, water heater stolen from Aurora house

A vacant home on the near West Side has been burglarized and vandalized to the tune of more than $14,000, according to Aurora police.
A property maintenance company reported Friday that approximately 60 feet of copper pipe and a water heater had been stolen from a home in the 600 block of South Lake Street.
Five windows were broken out, and the floors and walls were also damaged, police said. Total loss was estimated at $14,600.
The home had been abandoned for several months, police said.
Sara R. Carbone, of Norridge, was taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center after a two-car crash at 10:29 a.m. Saturday at New York Street and Oak Avenue, police said. Ismelda Menchaca, of the 700 block of Fourth Street, was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said.
Felipe D. Diaz-Recendez, 26, of the 0-99 block of Jones Street, Sandwich, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, two counts of drunken driving, improper lane use, no drivers license and no insurance at 2:09 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Lake Run Lane, police said.
Daniel L. Miller, 32, of the 900 block of Sard Avenue, Aurora, was charged with possession of a controlled substance at 1:25 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of North Lake Street, police said.
Rico R. Hernandez, 19, of the 300 block of Cedar Street, Aurora, was charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance, disregarding a stop sign and failure to notify authorities of an address change at 5:40 p.m. Saturday at Union Street and New York Street, police said.
Martin Lopez, 39, of the 500 block of Rural Street, was charged with drunken driving, fleeing police, driving on a suspended or revoked license, disregarding a stop sign, disregarding a traffic light and improper lane use at 7:56 p.m. Saturday at his home, police said.
Kaitlyn E. Burke, 17, of Plainfield, was charged with felony aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting an officer at 9:13 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of North Farnsworth Avenue, police said.
A specialty spare tire, valued at $950, was stolen from the bottom of a truck Friday night in the 1900 block of Chase Lane, police said.
Shawn A. Culligan, no age or address provided, was charged with two counts of drunken driving, driving on a suspended license, and two counts of disobeying a stop sign at 2:30 a.m. Sunday at Lincoln Avenue and Hazel Avenue, police said.
Kavina C. Phillips, no age or address provided, was charged with possession of a controlled substance at 10 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Charles Street, police said.
Alexander D. Contreras, 23, of Brookfield, was charged with drunken driving, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and no insurance after his vehicle struck a tree at 7:03 p.m. Saturday on Creek Road near Miller Road, in Little Rock Township, deputies said.
Josephus Turner, 62, of the 500 block of California Avenue, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving after a traffic stop at 8:51 p.m. Sunday on Cannonball Trail in Bristol Township, deputies said.
