AURORA — In a last minute move, 9th Ward aldermanic candidate Michael Ochs announced late Sunday he will drop out of the primary race.
That leaves four candidates in the running on Tuesday’s primary ballot — Edward Bugg, Matt Harrington, Marge Linnane and Bob Shelton. The top two candidates will move on to the April 9 ballot.
In the move, Ochs said he is throwing his support behind Harrington.
“I feel completely confident and encouraged... About what (Harrington) will do for this ward,” Ochs said.
“He wants to get out of the race and endorse me completely — to support me 100 percent,” Harrington said.
The move makes Ochs the second candidate to drop out ahead of Tuesday’s primary. On Thursday, 4th Ward candidate Kevin Mathews said he would drop out of the crowded ward race.
