AURORA — The Aurora 88s, an all-female roller derby league, is planning an open skate fundraiser for Sunday at the Aurora Skate Center, at Montgomery Road and Hill Avenue.
People are invited to skate with the Aurora 88s to raise money for the league and learn about how to join the team.
The open skate is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Admission is $6, and skate rental is $4. People also can bid on items in the silent auction fundraiser.
The Aurora 88s is a skater-owned, skater-operated women’s roller derby league.
Recruitment information will be available at Sunday’s fundraiser, and anyone interested in joining the league is urged to attend. The Aurora 88s is recruiting skaters, referees, non-skating officials (NSOs), and volunteers to help out at bouts. No protective equipment is required for the open skate. Tryouts will be held at a later date.
