OSWEGO – Oswego Playhouse has added two performances of its latest play to benefit Kendall County CASA.
The two additional performances of Eleemosynary will be at 8 p.m. March 8 and 9, at Oswego Village Hall. The $10 ticket price will benefit Kendall County’s Court Appointed Special Advocate program, which provides court support and representation for children in court for abuse cases.
Eleemosynary opens at 8 p.m. Feb. 22, and also has performances Feb. 23 and March 1 and 2. There is one matinee performance, at 2 p.m. March 3.
The show features Jacquie Weirich of Oswego, and Beth Goncher and Kelly Cash, both of Aurora. The show is directed by Jill Orr.
The play probes into the relationship of three women: the grandmother, Dorothea, who has sought to assert her independence through strong-willed eccentricity; her daughter, Artie, who has fled the stifling domination of her mother; and Artie’s daughter, Echo, whom Artie has abandoned to an upbringing by Dorothea.
The show includes Echo’s focus and domination of a national spelling bee contest.
For that reason, before each performance, community groups will participate in a spelling bee and the evening’s winner will be crowned champion during intermission.
Tickets for all shows are $10. Reservations can be made by calling 630-554-3287.
