Shots fired into East Side Aurora home

Aurora police are searching for suspects in a shooting that happened late Monday night on the city’s East Side.

According to police, callers reported four shots fired around 11:58 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Solfisburg Avenue.

Four shotgun shell casings were found in front of a residence on that block, and four bullet holes were found in the house’s south-facing wall, police said. No one was listed as injured in the shooting.

Police said they are looking for a black SUV that may have been involved in the shooting.


Denzel D. Yankieway, 20, of the 1200 block of Fourth Street, Aurora, was charged with two counts of armed violence, both class X felonies, aggravated battery with the discharge of a firearm, a class X felony, armed robbery with a firearm, and aggravated battery in a public place at 5:10 p.m. Saturday at Summit and South Farnsworth avenues, police said.

Shana L. Weber, of the 600 block of West Galena Boulevard, Aurora, was taken to an area hospital with injuries after a two-car accident a 10:40 a.m. Monday at Church Road and Route 56, police said. Terrence V. Olson, of the 0-99 block of Oak Street, North Aurora, was charged with improper lane use, and Weber was charged with driving on a suspended license and no insurance, police said.

Mark. W. Beseke, of the 1100 block of McDonald Avenue, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving after striking a gate owned by the city of Aurora at 8:31 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Aurora Avenue, police said.

Rebecca Garcia, of Naperville, was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center after a two-car crash at 4:10 p.m. Sunday at Hill Avenue and Galena Boulevard. Garcia was charged with no insurance and improper lane use after her car collided with a vehicle driven by Emelia Ramirez-Mendez, of the 300 block of Kendall Street, Aurora. Ramirez-Mendez was charged with driving without a license.

Holly L. Pichardo, 41, of the 400 block of Morton Avenue, Aurora, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance at 6:08 p.m. Friday at Farnsworth Avenue and Sheffer Road, police said.

Kendall County

Lakechia L. McElrath, 18, of Joliet, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet with non-life threatening injuries after a two-car crash at 5:40 p.m. Sunday at Line Road and Route 52 in Kendall County, police said. McElrath was also charged with failure to yield at a stop sign.

Daniel T. Benavides, 22, of the 2200 block of Margaret Drive, Montgomery, was charged with drunken driving after a traffic stop at 2:54 a.m. Sunday at Route 30 and Briarcliff Road, deputies said. Benavides was also charged with defective exhaust and no insurance, deputies said.
