One person was killed late Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle collision at Francis Road and Route 38, west of Elburn, the Kane County Sheriff’s Department said.
Lorella Huff, 78, of the 46W500 block of Main Street, Kaneville, was killed when the 1995 Toyota Camry she was driving hit a Hino Box truck at about 11:45 a.m. at the intersection.
Deputies said Huff was traveling north on Francis Road and for an unknown reason failed to stop at a stop sign there. Both sides of Francis Road stop for Route 38, but there are no stop signs for traffic on Route 38.
Huff’s Toyota struck the truck, driven by Christopher Bynes, 36, of the 0-99 block of Salt Creek Road, Roselle, that was traveling west on Route 38, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Bynes was uninjured. Huff was pronounced dead at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said. No tickets were issued in connection with the accident.
