YORKVILLE — Businesses and organizations with a “green” bent are invited to take part in Yorkville’s fifth annual Go Green Environmental Fair.

The Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Green Committee and the city of Yorkville are seeking vendors, exhibitors and presenters for the green fair, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 2 at Yorkville High School, 797 Game Farm Road.

The fair, which is free to the public, will feature up to 40 vendor booths, and offer opportunities for people who have expertise on environmental issues they would like to present in workshops. This year’s theme is “How To’s for the Homeowner,” and will include educational seminars featuring up to six topics and one family educational activity.

The application deadline for vendors’ spots and proposed presentations is Feb. 15. There is a $50 fee for vendors.

Green Committee members will make the final decision on presenters and topics after Feb. 13.

“This fair is intended to educate and inform the community on various environmental issues and solutions,” said Cheryl Lee of CL Design Build. “This 2013 fair provides a great opportunity for local businesses and non-profit organizations to showcase their ‘green’ products and services to the community.”

Lee, a Green Committee member and the person who created the concept for the original Yorkville fair, is overseeing this year’s registration of vendors and presenters. She can be reached at 630-882-8822 or by e-mail at CLDesignBuild@aol.com. Questions about the Family Activities are being taken by Stephanie McCue at 630-882-8313.

The Green Committee, which was established in 2009, meets the third Wednesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce office, 26 W. Countryside Parkway, Yorkville. Committee membership is open to anyone who is interested in promoting eco-friendly community awareness.

Besides the Environmental Fair, the Green Committee is sponsoring the annual Rain Barrel contest, scheduled for May.
