An Aurora man has pleaded not guilty in the November slashing and stabbing of two people, including his own 8-month-old daughter.
Nathaniel J. Nared, 26, of the 1000 block of East Benton Street in Aurora, remains held in the Kane County Jail on $200,000 bail. He faces multiple counts of aggravated battery, domestic battery and aggravated domestic battery included in an indictment this month.
Aurora police were called to Nared’s home in the early morning hours of Nov. 4 by Nared’s girlfriend, who said Nared had stabbed both her and the infant. The girlfriend is the mother of Nared’s child. Police said the woman and Nared had been arguing, and Nared grabbed a knife and began swinging it at the woman as she was holding the baby.
Nared slashed the child twice in the leg, police said, and the woman was stabbed in her stomach, right shoulder and back. The wounds to both the mother and child were non-life threatening.
Nared is scheduled to return to court in February.
