ST. CHARLES — An investigation continues into an attack on three people walking along Route 38 in St. Charles earlier this month.
Court records indicate that the case is being investigated as a hate crime.
St. Charles police spokesman Paul McCurtain said the incident involved two groups who had been at a downtown bar during the early morning hours of Jan. 6. One group left the area on foot after a dispute with the second group. The second group, with four people, drove away from the area, but a short time later, around 1:45 a.m., they cut off the group of walkers and a fight ensued. The suspects fled the scene of the fight in the 2000 block of Lincoln Highway before officers arrived, McCurtain said.
The three people attacked suffered minor injuries that did not require a trip to the hospital.
No arrests had been made as of Thursday.
