SYCAMORE — A 23-year-old Aurora man is in the DeKalb County Jail, facing multiple felony charges accusing him of using force to have sex with a 20-year-old woman.

Sandwich police said Thursday that Timothy L. Shafer, of the 500 block of Benton Street in Aurora, is charged with eight Class 1 felony counts of criminal sexual assault.

Police said the assault occurred on Aug. 5, 2012, in the 0-99 block of West Church Street in Sandwich.

Shafer was arrested this week by Aurora police on an outstanding warrant in connection with the assault and was transferred to the DeKalb County Jail in Sycamore. Bail was set at $100,000, according to police.
