Oswego School Board gets temporary member

John O'Driscoll, of Aurora, was appointed to the Oswego School Board. He will serve until new board members are sworn in after the April 9 election.

OSWEGO — The Oswego School Board has a new member — for a few months, anyway.
John O’Driscoll of Aurora was appointed to the School Board this week after a brief interview by current board members. He will fill the vacancy left last month by Lynn Cullick, who left the School Board after being elected in November to the Kendall County Board.
O’Driscoll was the only candidate interviewed.
O’Driscoll has students in third-grade and kindergarten at Homestead Elementary School, where his wife, Erica, also volunteers.
He is an attorney for Tressler LLC, in the company’s Bolingbrook office, where he practices government law. He said he did not anticipate any conflicts between his work and his service on the School Board.
He moved from Naperville to the Aurora part of the Oswego School District in 2006.
O’Driscoll said his highest priority on the board would be listening.
“You have to listen. This district has had some interesting times over the past couple of years,” he said. “Also, making sure the tax dollars are well spent. No district is perfect, but you do the best you can do.”
O’Driscoll will serve on the board until after the April 9 election. He is not running for a seat on the board in that election.
