AURORA — The West Aurora School Board has approved a boundary shift designed to even out enrollment at the four middle schools.
The change will mean each middle school will have about 700 students for the 2013-14 school year.
The shift impacts about 166 students, mostly from the near West Side, and will send them from Herget and Jefferson middle schools to Washington Middle School. The shift will also impact a handful of grade school students on the far West side, who will shift from Hall Elementary to Freeman Elementary.
Fourth graders can apply to stay at Hall Elementary School, and seventh graders can apply to stay at Herget or Jefferson, Assistant Superintendent for Operations Pete Kerl said. Students who stay would not receive transportation services from the district.
Letters from the district are set to go out to the parents impacted by the shift.
