Three charged with felony weapons violations in Aurora

Three Aurora men are facing felony weapons charges after an arrest over the weekend, police said. Maurice Williamson, 19, 1300 block of Glen Circle; Derrick Givens, 22, 500 block of Iowa Avenue; and Antonio Knight, 22, 1600 block of Plum Street, were all charged with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon at 1:30 a.m. Saturday near New York and View streets, police said.
Williamson was also charged with felonies possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and violation of the Firearm Owner’s ID Card Act, police said. Givens was also charged with felony possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and misdemeanor marijuana possession, police said.
About $1,500 damage was done when someone drove over the athletic fields at St. Patrick’s School, 915 Sard Ave., Aurora, between 8:30 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday, police said. The fields had been recently seeded and the driver cut deep tire tracks into the grass while doing doughnuts, police said.
Gloria Mendoza, of the 2900 block of Thunderbird Court, Aurora, was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center after a two-car crash at 7:51 p.m. Saturday near Eola and Hafenrichter roads, police said. No condition report was available. The other driver, Diego Rodriguez, 2000 block of Gardner Circle, Aurora, was charged with disobeying a traffic control signal, police said. Police refused to release either driver’s age.
About $3,800 damage was done when someone smashed the front and back windshield, then scratched all sides of a 2001 Mercedes 320 between 10 p.m. Sunday and 12:30 a.m. Monday, police said.
Sunglasses, a camera and two flashlights were taken when someone smashed the window of a car in the 1000 block of Stockton Court between 9 p.m. Friday and 12:28 p.m. Saturday, police said. Total loss was $1,150, police said.
Gwendolyn Mosby, 48, a homeless Aurora woman, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance as well as misdemeanors no rear registration and possession of drug paraphernalia at 5:37 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Kane Street, police said.
Oscar Burciaga, 27, 1300 block of Big Oak Trail, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving, failure to reduce speed and no driver’s license at 1:45 a.m. Sunday near Indian Trail and Highland Avenue, police said.
Kentry Peoples, 19, 200 block of Linn Court, North Aurora, was charged with felony delivery of 10 to 30 grams of marijuana at 11:20 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of North Lake Street, police said.
One person was hospitalized after a three-car crash at 11:47 a.m. Sunday near Douglas Road and Route 34, police said. Melissa Hazard, 25, 0-99 block of Ashlawn Avenue, Montgomery, was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, but a condition report was not available. None of the other drivers were hospitalized. Hazard was charged with failure to reduce speed, police said.
Two people were injured in a three-car crash at 1:58 p.m. Sunday near Route 34 and Mason Square Drive, police said. Driver Andrew Wild, 39, 1700 block of Rutgers Court, Naperville, and passenger Karen Gervais, 36, 1300 block of Willow Way, Yorkville, were both taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, but no condition reports were available. Another driver, Lilliana Romo, 21, 900 block of Fenton Street, Aurora, was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said.
