Kendall police target drunk driving, seat belt violations

YORKVILLE - The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office will have extra officers on duty to crack down on drunk drivers and seatbelt violations during the holiday season.
The special enforcement started Monday and will run through New Year’s Eve. Enforcement efforts will concentrate between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. According to data from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the midnight to 3 a.m. time frame is the deadliest time on Illinois roadways.
The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office recommends designating a sober driver and not letting friends and family drive drunk as just two of several simple steps to avoid a crash or drunk driving arrest.
The extra officers are paid for by a Illinois Department of Transportation grant.
