A Maple Park man has been found guilty of possessing 12 pounds of marijuana.
David A. Cappadora, 37, of the 50W000 block of Old State Road, Maple Park, was convicted Tuesday by a Kane County jury of unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of marijuana, both felonies.
On Sept. 16, 2011, Kane County sheriff’s deputies, acting on a tip, searched Cappadora’s home, which is about two miles north of Maple Park. Inside the house, deputies found about 12 pounds of marijuana, plus scales and materials used to package marijuana, prosecutors said.
Cappadora told deputies he sold or gave the marijuana to friends, prosecutors said.
Kane Sheriff’s Deputy Ron Hain, who investigated the case, said the marijuana has a street value of $200,000 to $300,000.
Cappadora faces a sentence of six to 30 years in prison. He remains free on $3,500 bond. His next court date is Feb. 1, 2013.
