Montgomery man convicted as habitual offender

A Montgomery man has been convicted of being a habitual criminal offender, and could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.
Christopher D. McGill, 27, of the 2200 block of Galant Fox Circle, was found guilty this week by a Kane County jury of one count of armed habitual criminal, a Class X felony.
Kane County prosecutors said in April 2011, McGill was charged with being unlawfully in possession of a firearm. He had previous convictions for unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a church and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
Circuit Judge David R. Akemann set McGill’s next court appearance for Dec. 17. McGill faces a sentence of six to 30 years in prison.
