For the 124th year, the Aurora Salvation Army’s bell ringers will be manning their kettles outside of area businesses for their annual holiday fundraiser.
The campaign began Friday with a ceremony outside of Prisco Fine Foods on Prairie Street in Aurora. Mayor Tom Weisner, who traditionally is a volunteer bell ringer at Prisco’s, helped launch the effort by placing a symbolic gold coin into one of the red kettles.
“I encourage everyone to take the time to give a donation and help raise money for food, clothing, toys and life’s basic essentials for our less fortunate families and senior citizens,” the mayor said.
