An Aurora man died Tuesday in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 88.
Samuel Sanchez Jr., 29, of Aurora, was in a Mustang travelling west on the tollway, just west of the Oakbrook Center shopping mall around 5 a.m., police said.
According to State Police, the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway as the car was approaching the cash toll lanes, struck a guardrail and rolled over in a ditch.
Sanchez was ejected from the vehicle.
Police said has not been determined why the vehicle went out of control.
It is unknown whether Sanchez or the car’s other occupant was driving, whether the two were wearing seat belts, or whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, according to State Police.
The two were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where Sanchez was pronounced dead.
Police said they are not naming the other occupant of the vehicle, pending investigation. No charges have been filed.
