Officer injured responding to Waterman fire

A Waterman police officer was treated for smoke inhalation at Kishwaukee Community Hospital after he responded to a fire at a home Wednesday morning.
The DeKalb County sheriff’s office said the officer was injured while responding to a dryer fire at the home in the 800 block of Wilson Street in Waterman at 11:13 a.m. Wednesday.
Police from Waterman and the sheriff’s office initially responded to the call, and fire departments from Waterman, Shabbona and Hinckley later arrived at the scene. No additional information was available Wednesday.
Aurora
Teresa Smith, 47, of Romeoville, was charged with felony theft, and endangering the life of a child at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday in the 4300 block of Fox Valley Center Drive, police said.
Jessica Curry, 21, 900 block of Oliver Avenue, Aurora, was charged with felony theft at 11:30 a.m. Monday in the 0-99 block of South Route 59, police said.
Delavonta Butler, 18, and Shaquile Fischer, 19, both of Chicago, were charged with felony retail theft at 2:22 p.m. Monday at Chicago Premium Outlets at Farnsworth Avenue and Interstate 88 in Aurora, police said.
Dean Britton, 51, 1100 block of Bonner Avenue, Aurora, was charged with felony violation of the sex offender registration act at noon Monday at the Aurora police station, police said.
Omero Torres, 400 block of Lakelawn Boulevard, Aurora, was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident at 7:21 p.m. Tuesday near Smith and New York streets after he was involved in an accident with injuries, police said. Police said Torres struck Robert Taylor, of the 400 block Kristen Street, Plano, who was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Kendall County
Melissa Maddox, 31, of Florida, was charged with drunken driving at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday near Route 52 and Arbeiter Road, sheriff’s deputies said.
Oswego
William Zaabel, 54, of New York, was charged with drunken driving at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of South Madison Street, police said.
