OSWEGO — The Oswego School Board has approved a contract with union members in the district’s transportation department that would provide 1.5 percent salary hikes in each of the next two years.
The School Board this week approved the two-year contract with the Oswego Transportation Association. Union membership is to vote on the new contract Nov. 12.
The previous contract expired June 30, 2012.
“The association believes that its negotiated agreement is fair, equitable and meets the needs of both the association and District 308,” union president Alex Wallace said in a release.
The union has a membership of 200 employees, including 117 bus drivers, 66 bus monitors and crossing guards, and 17 dean’s assistants. Union members are responsible for about 75 percent of the transportation services for students in the district, with the remainder being contracted out to Illinois Central School Bus Services, district officials said.
