Workers spent Wednesday tearing down the Muellner Building, at the southwest corner of Van Emmon and Bridge streets, in downtown Yorkville, as a beginning step in the widening of Route 47 through town.

The first phase of widening will be on the stretch of road Route 34 to Route 126. Eventually, the project will widen Route 47 to two lanes from Kennedy Road to Route 71.
