Aurora man is sentenced to 6 years for cocaine possession

An Aurora man has been sent to prison for possessing a large amount of cocaine that he planned to deliver.

Chester Burgess III, 25, of the 900 block of Lenwood Court, was sentenced Friday to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

On Aug. 20, Burgess was convicted by Associate Judge Marmarie J. Kostelny of one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class X felony.

According to prosecutors, on Oct. 14, 2011, Aurora police found 23 grams of cocaine and other items associated with drug delivery after searching Burgess’ home on a warrant. Burgess was immediately arrested.

Burgess is eligible for day-for-day sentencing and was given credit for at least 372 days served in the Kane County jail.

Joel Lazu, 26, 300 block of West New York Street, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving at 1:11 a.m. Friday near North View Street and Plum Street, police said.

Antonio Harrison, 38, 1200 block of South Fourth Street, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving, illegal transportation of liquor, failure to signal, disregarding a stop sign, and driving on a suspended/revoked license at 3:25 a.m. Friday in the 1200 block of South Fourth Street, police said.

Someone stole a camera, cash, a GPS, a CD faceplate and a wallet after smashing the window of a vehicle between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 3:15 a.m. Thursday in the 500 block of North Highland Avenue, police said. Damage was estimated at $1,170.

Arnulfa Rojas, 1700 block of Rebecca Lane, Aurora, was taken to Provena-Mercy Medical Center at 4:01 p.m. Thursday after he was involved in a three-vehicle accident near North Farnsworth Avenue and Liberty Street, police said. Juan Nava, 1800 block of Fescue Drive, Aurora, was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Oswego

Robin Walker, 46, 3400 block of Fox Hill Road, Aurora, was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center, where she was treated for injuries following a three-vehicle accident that took place at 11:10 a.m. Friday near Chicago Road and Park Street, police said. Police did not say whether any tickets were issued.
