Indian Prairie winnows down board candidates

Updated: October 24, 2012 9:41PM

The Indian Prairie School District Board of Education has scheduled interviews with five candidates looking to fill the board’s recent vacancy left by former president Curt Bradshaw.

The five community members scheduled for interviews are Paul Golden, Patrick Lee, Peter Paolilli, Michael Raczak and Benjamin White.

Twenty-one community members expressed interest in filling the seat, which became available last month when Bradshaw was appointed to serve on the Illinois State Board of Education.

Board members met last week to review and discuss the application materials submitted and selected five candidates to interview. Interviews will take place next week with a goal to appoint a new board member at the Oct. 29 meeting.

Board President Susan Rasmus said she appreciated the number of residents interested in serving on the school board.

“We are pleased with the high level of qualifications, both educationally and professionally, that the applicants bring to the table,” she said. “It’s great to see so many community members willing to volunteer their time and talents on behalf of all students in our district.”
