Festival added to fun at 5K River Run

Updated: November 5, 2012 7:00AM

MONTGOMERY — The annual 5K River Run will have a family community arts and crafts fair for all to enjoy after the runners cross the finish line in Montgomery Saturday.

The run also includes a 3K walk and a 100-yard dash for children. The Montgomery Arts Alliance and Community Christian Church are sponsoring daylong events for all ages.

The run along the Fox River will provide a scenic path for athletes of all ages. Registration can be done online at or on the day of the race beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Immediately afterward, the arts alliance will open the art and craft festival. Among the free activities will be a pie-eating contest, face painting, sidewalk chalk and a bounce house.

“We used to have Oktoberfest and we didn’t have it last year. This is a family fun day that we are having instead,” said Debbie Buchanan, executive assistant for the village.

In case of inclement weather, activities will still go on at Montgomery Village Hall, 200 N. River St.
