A half-dozen residents and business owners have reported copper stolen from air conditioners across Aurora over the past few days.
About four feet of copper piping was taken between 2 and 6 a.m. Tuesday from air conditioners at a church in the 0-99 block of South Constitution Drive. During that same time period, two blocks down the street, copper lines worth $1,500 were damaged, but not taken, from a doctor’s office in the 200 block of South Constitution Drive.
Sometime between Friday evening and Monday morning, 15 feet of copper, valued at $1,200, was stolen from a business in the 400 block of North Broadway.
And an entire air conditioner was stolen between Aug. 14 and Tuesday from the back patio of a vacant rental home in the 300 block of South East Avenue.
Someone may have been injured after a two-car crash at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday at Galena Boulevard and Union Street. Matthew E. Neimeyer was charged with failure to reduce speed after hitting Vincent Banas, police said. Police would not release further information.
Abraham Rodriguez may have been injured after a hit-and-run accident at 5:11 a.m. Tuesday on Route 59 near East New York Street. A black, two-door vehicle, possibly with Wisconsin license plates, struck Rodriguez and continued down New York Street, police said. No other information was released.
Ernest Brown Jr., 30, of the 900 block of Oliver Avenue, was charged with drunken driving, driving on a suspended license, improper turn and failure to stop at a crosswalk at 6 p.m. Monday at Benton and LaSalle streets, police said.
Marco A. Gonzalez, 20, of the 700 block of Fulton Street, Aurora, was charged with criminal defacement of proper and resisting an officer at 4:08 p.m. Monday at Union and Fulton streets, police said.
Jeremy J. Coleman, 25, of the 0-99 block of South West Street, Aurora, was charged with escaping electronic monitoring, obstructing identification and improper walking on a highway at 5:50 p.m. Monday at his home, police said.
A stereo and tools worth $1,300 were stolen from a locked vehicle, with one window slightly open, between 11 p.m. Monday and 5:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Constitution Drive, police said.
A dashboard and window were damaged and a stereo and iPod stolen between 11 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday in the 500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, police said. The damage and stolen items totaled about $1,250.
Clark M. Gillespie, 21, of the 2000 block of Carlsbad Circle, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving at 3:25 a.m. Monday at Route 30 and Fifth Street, police said.
Jim E. Sowinski, 61, of Plainfield, was charged with drunken driving, improper lighting, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and illegal transportation of alcohol at 12:35 a.m. Wednesday at Line and Caton Farm Roads, sheriff’s deputies said.
Stephen A. Budner, 28, of the 1300 block of Reva Lane, Sandwich, was charged with speeding 40 mph or more over the limit and driving on a suspended license after crashing his motorcycle at 10:13 a.m. Tuesday at Millbrook and Budd Roads, sheriff’s deputies said. Budner was not injured in the accident, police said.
Bradley E. Weaver, 51, of the 2700 block of Light Road, Oswego, was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora after crashing his motorcycle at 11:34 a.m. Tuesday at Cornelis Road at West Street, sheriff’s deputies said. A condition report was not available.
Illinois State Police issued two dozen tickets and handed out 17 warnings in a special traffic detail over the weekend on the eastbound exit ramp on Interstate 88 at Route 31 in North Aurora. The detail was from late Friday night to early Sunday morning. State troopers made two arrests for drunken driving, four for other alcohol-related offenses, and six for drug-related offenses. Most of the warnings were issued for equipment violations, police said.
