Aurora police are hoping someone will be able to identify the man who stabbed a convenience store clerk during a robbery Tuesday afternoon. On Thursday, police released surveillance video and still photos of the suspect.
At 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the store in the 200 block of Jackson Street. When they arrived, officers found a 19-year-old clerk had been stabbed during a robbery. The clerk suffered a stab wound on his hand and cuts above an eye and an elbow. Police said the injuries were not life threatening.
Police describe the suspect as a black man, about 6-feet tall and 250 pounds. He had no facial hair and was wearing a black baseball cap, black short-sleeved T-shirt and black cargo-style shorts.
The suspect walked around the front counter with a knife and demanded money, police said. The clerk opened the register and the robber grabbed cash, police said. At that point, the robber charged at the clerk, swung the knife several times, then ran from the store.
Surveillance video shows that the offender arrived at the store in red sedan, possibly a Dodge Neon. After he ran from the store, he got into the same vehicle and drove east on North Avenue.
Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora Police at 630-256-5500 or CrimeStoppers at 630-892-1000.
