Aurora men charged in prostitution sting

Several Aurora men are facing prostitution charges after they were arrested Friday afternoon on the city’s near southwest side during an undercover sting, police said Monday.

Charged with misdemeanor solicitation of a sex act were: Jose Saavedra, 28, 2400 block of North Farnsworth Avenue; Heriberto Nido, 36, 600 block of South River Street; Robert Lee Franklin, 38, 700 block of George Avenue; and Richard Shamblin, 44, 1100 block of Rural Street.

Charged with soliciting for a prostitute were: Kazem Saadatmandi, 49, 2200 block of Bittersweet Court; Antonio F. Tinajero, age not available, 1100 Block of Talma Street; and Scott A. Church, 50, of the 1100 block of White Avenue.

Modesto Alarcon, 40, of the 300 block of Beach Street, Aurora, was charged with no valid driver’s license during the operation, police said. Police said Alarcon was with Saaverdra but was not charged with soliciting.

Robert Franklin III, 20, of the 0-99 block of Madison Street, Aurora, was charged with improper walking in the roadway after approaching an undercover officer and harassing her, police said.

Six vehicles were impounded, and those arrested had to pay $500 to get them back, police said.
