Slow down!
That’s the message more than a dozen local law enforcement agencies will be sending to drivers on Wednesday as officers stake out the Route 30 corridor for potential speeders.
Dubbed “Route 30 Speed Awareness Day,” the campaign’s goal is to increase traffic safety and reduce the number of traffic crashes along the busy route.
Participating agencies include the Oswego, Montgomery and Plainfield police departments; Kendall and Will county sheriff’s offices; Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Police Department; Illinois State Police; and other jurisdictions.
An emphasis will be placed on speeding vehicles, commercial vehicle violations, and violation of laws near railroad crossings.
The multi-city effort is being held in conjunction with faces4.org, Families Against Chronic Excessive Speeding.
