Our New Member Showcase last Wednesday was a resounding success with the following businesses and organizations featuring their products and services: AAA-Naperville, Andersen Plumbing & Heating, Bogie’s Indoor Golf Club, CFO 4 Small Biz, Cupcakes 2 Remember and a Whole Lot More, Discovery Inspection Services LLC, Elite PC Experts, European Inspirations, Home for Life Advantage Inc., Kindercare Learning Center, LLT Group, LegalShield Legal Plans & ID Theft Protection, Lia Sophia/Orrell, Mamie’s Toffee & Treats, MOTOR, Mutual of Omaha/Metzger, Risen Lord Cemetery, Second Born Consignment, The Voice and Weichert Realtors/Kingsland Properties.
The New Member Showcase is credited to the hard work of our Chamber Ambassadors. In addition, we wish to thank Allied First Bank for hosting the showcase in their community room and lobby.
This coming Friday, the Hire Our Heroes veteran’s job fair will be at Waubonsee Community College’s Sugar Grove Campus. The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. under the primary leadership of the United States Chamber of Commerce and the Valley Industrial Association. The event is also being supported by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Department of Labor-Vets, Illinois Department of Employment Security, Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Waubonsee Community College, Operation Support Our Troops-America, and the Chambers of Commerce in Aurora, Batavia, Elgin, Geneva, Oswego, St. Charles and Western DuPage.
The job fair is open to veterans, guard and reserve members, and military spouses. Registration is available online at www.hoh.greatjob.net or day of event with proper ID. Online tools are available for veterans and spouses to get help writing resumes and interview tips; translating military skills, experience and training into related civilian careers; and finding current lists of employment opportunities with military-friendly employers. Go to www.military.com/hiringourheroes to get the tools you need to find your next career.
Another event on the horizon will be the multi-chamber legislative breakfast featuring U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam of Wheaton, set for Sept. 17 at Piper’s Banquets, 1295 Butterfield Road, Aurora. Roskam is the chief deputy majority whip, the fourth-ranking Republican leader in the House. He represents the 6th District of Illinois.
Roskam has long fought for common-sense solutions to the problems our nation faces, now doing so at the GOP leadership table. He is considered a “Rising Star” by a variety of news outlets. Roskam serves on the Ways & Means Committee where he’s earned a reputation as a leader championing innovative solutions on taxes, trade and health care.
This is a truly unique opportunity to let Washington know the business community cares and that we are watching and listening. Plan to invite your organization’s key stakeholders to accompany you. Register today with your local chamber of commerce to make sure you have a seat at the table.
