KANEVILLE TOWNSHIP — The Kane County Sheriff’s Office said no foul play was involved in the death of a woman whose body was found along a road near Kaneland High School Wednesday morning.
Around 7:30 a.m., sheriff’s police were notified by a passerby that a car was parked on the side of Meredith Road, north of Keslinger Road and the high school campus, according to the sheriff’s office. Joyce David, 57, of Elburn, was found in a field near the vehicle, a silver Chevrolet Equinox, authorities said.
Firefighters and a forensics team were on the scene Wednesday morning.
Police closed Meredith Road from Route 38 to Keslinger Road, and stretched yellow police tape across the road just north of Kaneland Middle School.
Further details, including the cause of death, have not been released. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office said a cause of death will not be available until the conclusion of the investigation. An autopsy by the Kane County Coroner’s Office was scheduled for Thursday morning.
A line of evergreens and parched cornfields shielded the investigation from football practices being held at nearby Kaneland High School.
The school remained open and practice continued while police were on the scene, the sheriff’s office said.
