According to a warrant filed in Kane County, the Aurora man charged with peeping in windows would use his evening runs to scout for places to spy on naked women.

In May, Erik Paxton, 24, 100 block of South Rosedale Avenue, was charged with felonies possessing child pornography and residential burglary as well as misdemeanor window peeping. Paxton is being held in the Kane County Jail on $760,000 bail.

According to the warrant that was made public last week, police first had contact with Paxton after a man on Westlawn Avenue let his dogs out of the house and they ran to a spot on his fence, where a man dressed all in black was seen running away. The man found a step stool outside his 11-year-old daughter’s window. The man said they had recently had another similar incident of a man looking at his older daughter while she was taking a shower.

A police officer found Paxton jogging nearby in a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. He had dirt and plants on his pants and shirt, the warrant says.

The next day, police went to Paxton’s house and he agreed to speak with them. According to the warrant, he admitted to being outside the girl’s house. He admitted that he looked through the windows at this house before while masturbating. According to the warrant, Paxton also admitted that he had gone into the house to steal women’s clothes, when he found one of the doors was unlocked.

Paxton also masturbated while watching a woman shower in the 100 block of Central Avenue — and returned five more times, the warrant says. Paxton said he went into this house three times and stole women’s underwear, which he kept in his home, the warrant says. He had been caught once and chased away by a neighbor, according to the warrant.

Paxton admitted that on his runs he would frequently see two women running together and tried to figure out where they lived. After a long period of observation, he found one woman’s house and watched her walk around her kitchen naked on at least four occasions, the warrant says. In November 2011, Paxton got in the woman’s car and took a picture of her driver’s license.

Police said Paxton had downloaded pictures of young naked girls from the Internet, but they do not believe Paxton had any inappropriate contact with children. In the pictures, the girls were not engaged in sexual activity. Paxton then used software to digitally alter the photos, so it appeared as if he was having sexual contact with the girls, police said. The warrant says Paxton admitted to downloading porn from Russian websites.
