BATAVIA — The national fitness chain XSport Fitness is looking to expand its grip within the Windmill Place shopping center at Randall Road and Wilson Street.
The fitness center has submitted an application to occupy an additional 6,000 square feet of available commercial space that would expand its gym at 81 N. Randall Road from 12,000 square feet to 18,000.
Drew Rackow, Batavia city planner, said the city’s zoning code for large-scale indoor entertainment and recreation uses requires a public hearing (7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 before the Plan Commission) for a conditional use to review parking and compatibility issues.
“With it going into an existing space, it may not be significant,” Rackow said.
Rackow said the additional commercial space is made available with Amish Furniture, the tenant to the south, reducing the size of its commercial footprint from 16,000 square feet to 10,000. XSport took over the former World Gym in 2006.
